Fiat greens up in EuropeFIAT has set new standards in cutting carbon dioxide by posting Europe's lowest volume weighted CO2 emissions, according to automotive advisory and research service JATO.
The Italian company logged a CO2 emissions average of just 127.8g/km across its car range, compared with 133.7g/km in 2009's results, putting it ahead of Toyota (130.1g/km), Peugeot (133.6), Renault (137.5), Citroen (137.9), Ford (140.0), Vauxhall/Opel (148.9), Volkswagen (150.4), Audi (160.9) and Mercedes-Benz (176.4).
The statistics show the average emissions figure for every vehicle Fiat sold in Europe in 2009, and also means that the company has beaten the European average target of 130g/km five years ahead of its 2015 implementation.
Xtrac's geared up for LotusTRANSMISSION technology specialist Xtrac, supplier of gearbox components to almost every Formula 1 team on the grid, is supplying the Hispania Racing F1 Team and Lotus F1 Racing with a newly designed gearbox developed for the 2010 season.
Including the aluminium casing, it’s Xtrac’s first total transmission system supplied into F1 since 1996, when the company previously supplied complete gearboxes.
Big money in bikingRESEARCH carried out as part of the Motor Cycle Industry’s 2010 centenary activities has revealed that the industry in the UK employs more than 62,000 people and turns over in excess of £5billion in sales with an added value profit of £2 billion a year.
Including businesses that serve the industry, motorcycling supports £2.75 billion of added value and provides 78,000 jobs.
Kris rallies to the topPEUGEOT’S IRC champions Kris Meeke and Paul Nagle secured maximum points towards their title defence when they cruised to victory in Brazil's Rally Internacional de Curitiba, round two of this year's Intercontinental Rally Challenge.
They brought their Peugeot 207 S2000 home ahead of the Skoda Fabias of Guy Wilks and Juho Hänninen after two days competition on the forest stages. Meeke's winning margin was 46.7 seconds, and the win - his second successive victory in Brazil - makes him the leading IRC rally winner of all time.
Retro racing feastRACE RETRO, held at Stoneleigh Park from March 12-14, is serving up a feast of cars for lovers of historic motor sport, as well as a new British contender for the motorcycle Land Speed Record and the first UK-built dragster.
Pushing the boundaries of historic motor sport is Dennis Welch Motorsport with its record-breaking Austin-Healey 100, which late last year achieved a top speed of 152mph, up on the works car record set in 1954.
Honda's repair master plan
HONDA has launched a new programme for repairing customer cars after an accident, with benefits like a guaranteed replacement car regardless of accident type.
The company is writing to customers to inform them of the new programme benefits and crucially, what to do if they are involved in an accident. Honda hopes the initiative will increase customer retention, provide more repair jobs to the network and improve overall customer service.
